Pursue The Opportunities Presented By New Realities

Evolution of broadband technologies is rapidly transforming from silo-based approaches - where each technology type is assessed separately - towards more holistic and service-based approaches and ´vertical´ service offerings.

Focus is shifted from technical metrics toward subscriber expectations and needs - subscriber QoE makes the real difference!

Build an AX Innovation Engine and pursue the strategic opportunities presented by new realities!

Use Case: Management Of PCs & MACs Via TR-069

Abstract

Executive Summary

Axiros enables ISPs to manage not only CPEs and operator´s network elements - but also residential customers PCs and MACs.

This enables for solutions like

  • orchestrated inter-device workflows between CPE and PCs/MACs to e.g. encrypt Wifi on CPE and PCs/MACs with the same key
  • centrally managed software rollouts to e.g. manage mass rollouts of browsers, email clients and softphones on PCs/MACs
  • non intrusive subscriber support to e.g. grant support agents access to dedicated settings on the PC/MACs, w/o the need of a complete desktop take over
  • QoE Monitoring on customer premise equipment - now *including* the PC - to measure KPIs directly on the PC/MAC and correlate this data with information from the gateway
  • management of PC/MAC periphery devices that only the PC/MAC can see like e.g. USB surf sticks

Technical Summary

Zero-touch WLAN Configuration:

  • Secure WiFi data is retrieved from ACS
  • Setup of wireless connection on any device connected to the CPE
  • Optimising the WLAN connection: increase security, channel change, etc.
  • Continuous synchronisation of WiFi settings among connected computers, CPE and ACS

Home Network Visualisation and Management:

  • Individual custom views of the home network
  • Accessible on the operator‘s portal
  • Display of connected devices
  • Providing real-time status on the home network
  • Providing central management functions, such as
    • Register new services
    • Manage security levels
    • Refresh/upgrade settings

Unattended configuration and management capabilities:

  • Pushing settings onto the users‘ PC (e.g. E-Mail accounts)
  • Uniform CPE management for TR069 and legacy devices
  • Triggering Upgrades (TR069 enabling of legacy devices)

Availability of telemetric data to the helpdesk:

  • Providing real-time system information of connected PCs (OS, Service Packs, Security Settings, NW config.)
  • Insight into CPE configuration settings of legacy devices
  • Information relevant for helpdesk agents is made available via ACS even if user‘s are offline

Quality of Service:

  • QoS monitoring for all components of Internet access (network, device, PC)
  • Speed Checks in full accordance with the subscriber‘s home network
  • One central user interface for all QoS data
